Introduction to Instructional Design in an Organizational Setting

  • Presented with an organizational need, determine an information gathering strategy to support a needs assessment. 

  • When communicating with stakeholders, explain the benefits of conducting a needs assessment. 

  • Following a needs assessment, plan how to effectively communicate the conclusions to relevant stakeholders. 

  • Summarize the value of an instructional design process and the ADDIE course development process.


Learner Analysis in Instructional Design

  • Discuss the benefits and challenges of conducting a needs analysis 

  • Define performance gap and root cause analysis

  • Discuss the benefits of conducting a learner analysis, and ways to integrate into your training practice. 

  • Consider design implications based on your audience. 

  • Define behavioral language and learner characteristics. 

  • Define and develop a task analysis. 

Objective Driven Course Design

  • Describe Bloom’s taxonomy

  • Explain why we use Bloom’s taxonomy to turn task statements into learning objectives

  • Discuss the three components of effective learning objectives

  • Write measurable learning objectives
