Performance Consulting – Partnering to Create Lasting Results

This is a 2 day course July 23rd and July 30th.  When you register here you are registering for both days.

Intended Audience

  • Learning and HR professionals interested in shifting their work from a solutions focus to a results focus.

  • External consultants who would like a refresher and who seek lasting outcomes from their work.

  • Managers and anyone else who is frustrated with the lack of long-term results many initiatives deliver.

Overview

Have you ever found yourself working on a training initiative when you knew it was unlikely to solve the real problem?  Perhaps you’ve heard about the importance of being a strategic partner “to the business” but are unsure what exactly that means or how to go about it.  Have you overheard your internal or external clients express frustration that a training program “didn’t work”?

When business leaders come to L&D for help, they often have a solution in mind – often times, it’s the wrong or incomplete solution.  In this two-session workshop, Dana Pratt will guide you through a process of evaluating requests, identifying business and performance needs, and building long-term client relationships that can help you shift away from “order taking” and toward a proactive approach that will make you a valued partner in driving positive business outcomes.

Objectives

Day One: Performance Consulting – It’s About the Business– By the end of the first session, you will be able to:

  • Define Performance Consulting and articulate the difference between the role of the client and the role of the consultant

  • Differentiate between transactional, tactical and strategic work and determine whether a situation requires a strategic or tactical response.

  • Identify business, performance, work environment and skill/capability needs.

  • Evaluate the opportunity gap by determining the SHOULD BE and AS IS state for business and performance goals.

  • Explore causes of performance gaps or barriers to improvement.

Day Two: Performance Consulting – It’s About the Relationship – By the end of the second session, you will be able to:

  • Articulate a three-part approach to building client relationships and commit to action steps to enhance effectiveness.

  • Use powerful questions to influence client decisions.

  • Prepare for and manage intake meetings

  • Proactively identify strategic opportunities

  • Form action plans that support application of the skills and concepts shared in the workshop.
