Monthly Chapter Meeting: Dive into VR! The Intersection of Virtual Reality and Talent Development

It’s hard to escape the constant news hype cycle around virtual reality. Meta this, the future of learning that – what does it all really mean? Frankly, we’re not sure either. But, it is fair to say that the technological advancements in VR hardware technology have significantly expanded the lay person’s ability to experience VR immersion. And, it's also true that any technology modality for immersion may have effects on, and opportunities for, folks in the  talent development space! 

Join ATD - Cascadia at our in-person May Chapter event to try your hand at donning a headset and immersing yourself in virtual reality. The evening event will be separated into two parts. First, we will set up a series of VR content modules (with headsets) for members/registrants to experience VR content consumption first hand. For the second portion of the evening we will separate into a series of small groups to discuss implications near- and long-term on talent development. 

Attendees can expect to:

1. Try their hand at an immersive VR experience 

2. Explore various content modules relevant to education in general

3. Discuss best practices for implementing VR or mixed reality into your talent development practice 

4. Leave with new perspectives and ideas

• Our Chapter Meetings are a great opportunity to connect with talent development colleagues from across the area as well as to learn something new as each meeting focuses on a different topic related to our profession. Meetings take place the place the fourth Monday of each month (except December) and are open to members and non-members alike.
