Listening Intelligence is a relatively new field of study that seeks to understand the ways we habitually filter the information we hear. It’s a key component of mental agility and emotional intelligence, making it very relevant to our work in Learning and Development.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
Define Listening Intelligence and why is it important
Discuss the four ways we listen
Identify ways to harness Listening Intelligence in the workplace
Intended Audience:
Kristin Emerson is a Senior Learning & Development Consultant with The TEAM Approach, which is based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was formerly a professor of Professional Communication at North Carolina State University, where she became aware of the gaps in how we train young professionals to write, speak, and listen at work. Kristin is an ECHO Listening Certified Practitioner. She is excited to share the potential benefits of listening intelligence with ATD chapters.
